The Lewis-Sigler Institute invites students interested in graduate training in quantitative and computational biology to apply to the QCB Scholars Program. QCB Scholars will participate in a fully funded visit to the Princeton campus to meet faculty, postdocs, and graduate students. This program will coincide with the Lewis-Sigler Institute's annual retreat during which Scholars will have a chance to hear about the exciting research conducted in Biophysics, Systems Biology, and Genomics. Scholars will learn more about the graduate application process, admissions, and life as a graduate student, as well as explore our beautiful campus.The Lewis-Sigler Institute is committed to increasing access to graduate training to students with outstanding talent and potential. Application deadline is June 15, 2025.APPLY NOW Program Outline Scholars will arrive on September 18, 2025 and depart on September 21, 2025. Scholars will attend workshops on the process of applying to and interviewing for graduate school, resources available to our graduate students, as well as participate in the annual Lewis-Sigler Institute retreat. At the retreat, graduate students and postdocs from each lab in the department highlight their recent research. QCB Scholars will also be given the opportunity to present a poster on their prior research, as well as to engage in networking interactions with QCB faculty and graduate students. It is a great way to preview Princeton and the department and gain insights into the process of applying to graduate school. Eligibility Scholars will be selected from a competitive national applicant pool of undergraduates. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in U.S. colleges or universities (including U.S. territories, Guam and Puerto Rico). Eligible applicants should hold an academic status of junior, senior or post-baccalaureate scholar by September 2025. This program is open to all. For the online application it is acceptable to submit an unofficial transcript. Those individuals moving into the final stages of the selection process will be asked to submit an official copy. Do I need to pay out-of-pocket for my travel expenses? No. The QCB Scholars staff will arrange to pay for your airfare or train transportation directly. You may need to pay for transportation to and from the airport, but you will be reimbursed for those expenses. What is the dress code for the visit? Dress is business casual/comfortable. Can I attend on a different day? No. This program is tied to our Institutional Retreat, so we are not able to offer alternative dates. Which airport is best for traveling to Princeton? Either Newark International Airport (EWR) or Philadelphia (PHL) is fine, with Newark slightly more convenient. Many NJ Transit trains on the Northeast Corridor line leave from Newark Airport and stop at Princeton Junction, where you can transfer to the "Dinky" Princeton line to get to campus.
