I received a Ph.D. from QCB in September, 2015, and a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2010. I am generally interested in social systems and the conflicts that can occur between what's best for an individual and what's best for its social group. In my Ph.D., I used mathematical models to study how this conflict is resolved in starling flocks, in groups of monkeys, and in the brain. As a postdoc, I will continue to use a combination of theory and empirical analysis to identify common principles of sociality across systems.
