During my Ph.D., I developed a simulation platform called Nanoverse, which I used to explore population dynamics in microbial ecosystems (biofilms). The software enables me to define interactions at the scale of cells, while "fast-forwarding" to see evolution happen in real time. I am particularly interested in the way that microbes use chemicals both to help and hurt one another. I am now working to develop Nanoverse into an open-source alternative to expensive simulation packages.
